Five steps.
About five minutes.

Dexter Byte runs inside MetaTrader 5 on your own computer or VPS. You only install one file and choose your risk. Everything else is already set.

Allow the licence check

Dexter checks your licence online once an hour. MetaTrader blocks that until you allow it, so do this first.

  1. Open Tools›Options›Expert Advisors
  2. Tick Allow algorithmic trading.
  3. Tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL and add this address:
https://license.getdexterbyte.com

Click OK. On a demo account Dexter runs without a licence, so you can test first.

Put the file in the Experts folder

  1. In MetaTrader 5 open File›Open Data Folder
  2. Go to MQL5›Experts
  3. Copy DexterByte.ex5 into that folder.

Use the .ex5 file exactly as you received it. Do not rename it.

Refresh the Navigator

  1. Open the Navigator with Ctrl + N if it is hidden.
  2. Right-click Expert Advisors and choose Refresh.
  3. Dexter Byte now appears in the list.

Attach Dexter to a gold chart

  1. Open an XAUUSD chart. Some brokers call it GOLD, XAUUSD+ or XAUUSD.r.
  2. Set the timeframe to M5.
  3. Drag Dexter Byte from the Navigator onto the chart.
  4. On the Common tab, tick Allow Algo Trading.
  5. On the Inputs tab, set Risk per trade (% of balance). Allowed: 0.1 to 5.0. This is the only setting.
  6. Click OK.

Switch on Algo Trading

Click Algo Trading in the top toolbar so the button turns green. The hat icon at the top right of the chart turns blue.

Open the Experts tab at the bottom. You should see:

Dexter Byte licensed to your name, active until date

On a demo account you will not see the licence line. That is normal.

Optional

Run Dexter 24/5 on a VPS

  1. Do step 1 on your own computer first, so the licence address is allowed.
  2. In the Navigator, right-click your account and choose Register a Virtual Server (MQL5 VPS) and follow the steps.
  3. Choose Migrate experts and indicators. Dexter and his settings move to the VPS.
Avoid double trades. After migrating, switch Algo Trading off on your own computer, or close MetaTrader there. Otherwise both copies trade.
Troubleshooting

What the Experts tab is telling you

license server unreachableNo internet on this computer or VPS. Dexter keeps running for 24 hours, then pauses.
risk must be between 0.1% and 5.0%Open the bot settings (F7 on the chart) and set Risk to a value in that range.
Dexter is not in the NavigatorThe file is in the wrong folder. It must be in MQL5 › Experts. Then Refresh.
Running, but no tradesNormal when the spread is too wide, the market is quiet, or it is the weekend. Dexter waits for a setup.

Renewing

Dexter reminds you three days before your licence ends. Renew with crypto, and it extends automatically.
